Stopping places and platform edges
Description
In railML 3.1, a <stoppingPlace>
can be linked with only one <platformEdge>
using attribute <stoppingPlace>@platformEdgeRef
.
In the railML ITMS use case working group it has been concluded that a stopping place can be linked with more than one platform edge. Therefore, the model shall be adapted for railML 3.2.
Background
A stopping place marks the position on the track where the train shall stop.
A platform edge is the interface between passenger train and station.

Proposed solution railML 3.2
The existing attribute <stoppingPlace>@platformEdgeRef
shall be marked DEPRECATED.
A new repeatable child element <allowsUsageOfPlatformEdge>
shall be introduced to reference a <platformEdge>
element.
